| This is a really popular thread on the other forums that I'm a part of, so I thought I'd bring it here. Basically, this is just a thread for the sharing and critiquing of working titles and mock-up book covers (which several authors, myself included, have an addiction to making). So...go ahead and share! | |

| Alright, well give me your opinion on my idea.
My novel series is called Black Rose Chronicles. The first book, I've already created a cover for. It's a side view of one of the main characters with a black rose either wrapping its thorn vines around her or weaving it's way up the side of the book.
Sound good or no? | |

| This is a cover I made recently for my novel, Seasons of Midnight (so, Angela, if you wanted a visual of Violet's pendant, here it is. x3). It's kind of bland, but I can't really draw on Photoshop and I don't have a tablet. I drew a more interesting cover with pencil, but I don't have a scanner. ._. Oh well. Maybe I'll get more ideas and make another one. I promise I'll post it here if I do. >w< | |

| It looks good Moon ^^
To be truthful, its a bit bland. I mean, it needs something...more... i'm not sure what jsut it doesn't pop to me... sorry v.v

| Oh no, I completely agree with you. That's why I wanted to scan my drawn one--it has more than one thing on it. xD I just wanted to post it to see if you had any ideas. ^^; | |

| hahaha honey i'm full of ideas!
For one, if your going to work with photoshop try to make the pendant more 3D.
also, you might not want the chains to go off the page, but have it like some one just droped it. Not only does it show a dramatic ation, it also shows a depth that would draw someone in.
Also, the crest, make it more a jewel than see through if your magic evolves around it. Magic and jewels tend to go together so it would be easier to relate too!
I think thats all for now ^^

| Hmmm....do you know any black gems? ^_^; I could just make the moon black, instead of recreating my pendant. ^_^;
True. I would like to show it being dropped on the grass when it's dark outside, but I just can't do it in Photoshop. >_<; I'll try drawing it. My current cover in pencil is the pendant being held in someone's palm, and it takes place outside. You can see a little bit of grass and some of the dark sky.

| Onyx would work well
That sounds good. The palm is a good idea, my only worry is the ties to the twilight book people would make

| Ugh, I'm so sick of it. >_<; I think everyone should shut up about that book, honestly. xD Hopefully the craze will die down if I ever get my book published. The last thing I want it "It's the next Twilight!" Because that apparently means my book is just swell. Thank you for the input. I'll definitely change it to onyx. I made it "black gold" because I honestly couldn't think of anything. I was worried about giving it the title I did, plus having the pendant shaped like the moon, etc. It's not my fault Meyer picked a completely random title about the sky and the moon for no apparently reason. | haha its okay
If you don't mind changing your book a bit, Amethyst -the purple one- is mainly used around magic, that and sapphire.
Forget Twilight blah blah blah
p.s. [this is random i know but i just have to tell everyone! I've posted some of my work from my college class on my blog so just follow my writing blog link on my posts to read it or my personal blog to find out about my college!]

| Hmm, but then I would feel it's too much purple (I know that sound weird ahhaha). Like, her eyes are violet (thus the reason for her name). Like, if I made the pendant purple, too, would that be considered like, "Ugh" or more of an "Oh, that's interesting. Maybe even the pendant changed her eye color blah blah that's cool?" >w<
P.S. Your college sounds awesome! (I read it :3) Too bad I live in New York. xD I wish I was gifted. x3

| Why not go with onyx and have it change colors depending on the magic? -like i did in our little story making things-
P.S. If you lived here i'd so love it if you'd go to the college with me XD
Did you like the stuff? i hope so lol

| Basically, the pendant is in two halves: light and dark. Right now, Violet has the black half. I was planning on making it that when Kaden touches it for the first time, it changes to diamond from onyx. But I haven't thought out the kinks yet, like if the powers would change, or if the other half would change, etc. But I also like the color changing idea. :/ Maybe they could be white or black, and then change color? >_<; I'm so happy I have you. xD xD Omg that'd be awesome. My mom would think she's seeing double. | |

the easiest seems be somewhat dull...
